Your local handyman for Dandenong and the south-east
Every home has a list. The door that sticks, the hole in the plaster, the leaning fence, the gutters full of leaves, the mouldy shower silicone, the TV still sitting on the floor, the flat-pack wardrobe still in its box. Dandenong Handyman works through that list for homeowners, renters, landlords, property managers and small businesses across Dandenong, Springvale, Noble Park, Keysborough, Endeavour Hills, Doveton and the surrounding suburbs. One visit, many jobs, done tidily and on time, with a written scope agreed before we start.
We are a handyman service, not a building company, so we focus on the small and medium jobs that larger trades often do not want, and we do them properly. If a job needs a licensed electrician, plumber or builder, we tell you up front.

Why choose Dandenong Handyman
Free, no-obligation quotes
Tell us what needs doing, ideally with a few photos, and we will reply with a clear written scope. There is no cost and no obligation to go ahead.
A written scope before we start
You will know exactly what we are going to do before we arrive. If we find something unexpected during the job, such as hidden rot or water damage, we stop and talk to you before doing anything extra. We never add work without your agreement.
Tidy, on-time tradespeople
We arrive when we say we will, and we let you know if anything changes. We lay drop sheets, protect floors and furniture, keep tools away from children and pets, and clean up before we leave.
One visit, many jobs
Most people have more than one job. A single visit to work through the whole list saves you time, saves repeated call-outs, and means you only need to be home once.
Local to the south-east
We work across the City of Greater Dandenong, the City of Casey and nearby parts of Knox, so we know the local homes: post-war weatherboards in Dandenong and Doveton, 1970s and 1980s brick veneer in Endeavour Hills and Noble Park North, subdivided units in Springvale, new estate homes in Keysborough, and acreage in Lysterfield.

Seasonal maintenance for south-east Melbourne homes
Melbourne’s weather is hard on homes. Here is a simple seasonal checklist for homes in Dandenong and the surrounding suburbs.
Autumn
Clear gutters and downpipes before winter rain, especially if you have large trees nearby. Check fences and gates before the windy months. Check that external doors close and seal properly.
Winter
Look for damp and mould in bathrooms and on ceilings. Check that exhaust fans are working and bathroom silicone is in good condition. Fit draught seals to doors to keep warmth in.
Spring
Pressure clean driveways, paths and decks that have turned green over winter. Check decks for soft or split boards. Repair fences after spring winds.
Summer
Re-mesh torn flyscreens so windows can stay open on warm nights. Clean and oil decks before entertaining season. For homes near bushland, keep gutters clear of dry leaves, following CFA advice.

Homes of the south-east, and what they need
Post-war homes in Dandenong, Doveton and Noble Park
Much of the older housing in Dandenong, Doveton and Noble Park was built in the 1950s and 1960s, when factories such as International Harvester, General Motors-Holden and Heinz drew workers to the area. These weatherboard and brick homes, many on timber stumps, are solid but now more than sixty years old. Doors stick as houses settle, timber windows rot at the sills, floorboards squeak and lift, plaster cracks above doorways, and fascias rot behind overflowing gutters. We repair rather than replace where it makes sense, because the original timber is often better than what you can buy today. We also take care with materials that may contain asbestos, which are common in homes of this era, and never cut, drill or sand suspect materials.
1970s to 1990s brick veneer
Endeavour Hills, Dandenong North, Noble Park North, Eumemmerring and parts of Keysborough are dominated by brick veneer family homes built from the 1970s to the 1990s. Original or early-update kitchens and bathrooms are common. These homes need silicone and grout renewal, cupboard hinge and drawer runner replacement, door adjustments, plaster crack repairs, fascia repairs, deck and pergola repairs, and fence maintenance. Small refreshes, such as new handles throughout, can make them feel updated without a renovation.
Units, townhouses and apartments
Springvale, Springvale South, Noble Park and Dandenong have seen many blocks subdivided into units and townhouses, and new apartment buildings have gone up near the stations. These homes have small, hard-working bathrooms and kitchens, sliding doors and wardrobe doors, shared driveways and shared fences. Typical jobs are silicone, grout, door and cupboard adjustments, TV mounting and furniture assembly.
New estates and acreage
Southern Keysborough’s new estates need TV mounting, shelving, furniture assembly, garage storage and small defect repairs as the houses settle. Lysterfield’s larger homes and acreage properties need deck, fence, gate, shed and gutter work, with extra attention to bushfire preparation near the parks.

Respectful service in a diverse community
Greater Dandenong is one of the most culturally diverse areas in Australia, and many homes here are shared by several generations of one family. We respect every household and its customs. We are happy to work around prayer times and family events, we take shoes off or use shoe covers when asked, and we explain what we are doing clearly. Many family members book work for parents or grandparents, and we keep them informed with photos and a written list of what was done.
Safety comes first
We fix rails, TVs, shelves and heavy items into studs, masonry or other solid fixing points with fixings rated for the load. We anchor tall furniture to walls in homes with young children. We work from ladders on single-storey homes only, and we stop and tell you if a job turns out to be unsafe or needs a different trade.

Our promise
We will turn up when we say we will. We will agree the scope with you in writing before we start. We will treat your home with care, and leave it tidy. We will tell you honestly if a job is outside what we do, and we will never pressure you into work you do not want. That is how a good local handyman should work, and it is the standard we hold ourselves to on every job.
Whether it is one small repair or a long list, we would be glad to help with your home.
